Höyrytys delivered back-up energy with 4.7 MW of nominal power with a very fast response time to Suomen Teolli­suuden Energi­apalvelut – STEP Oy and their end customer. 

STEP had an emergency need for backup energy. According to Jesse Paananen, Business Unit Manager at Höyrytys, 4.7 MW of backup energy equipment was mobilised quickly. The system was in full production at the customer’s location less than 10 hours after receiving the call. 

According to Paananen, these types of unplanned backup energy deliveries can pose unexpected challenges, including the customer’s own processes. The best way to prepare for sudden backup energy needs is a backup energy agreement, whereby the backup energy capacity needed by the customer is always ready for delivery to a pre-planned delivery point, speeding up the start of backup energy production as soon as needed. 

“This time, the challenges were overcome thanks to the fine work of our Höyrytys operators, so that there were no interruptions to the backup energy production or the end customer’s processes. All in all, this was a model example of our quick response time to the customer’s emergency energy needs,” says Paananen.
