In August, Höyrytys delivered 3 MW of backup heat production for the duration of planned maintenance work on Kotka Energy’s district heating network. With the help of the service, the heat distribution was able to continue uninterrupted for local residents and properties. Höyrytys provided backup heat for Kotka Energia on a turnkey basis.
In the backup heat production turnkey service, Höyrytys is responsible for transporting the equipment, arranging the power distribution electricity and fuel required by the equipment, and delivering the heat production itself to the connection point indicated by the customer.
Kotka Energy has previously been supplied with heat to the same backup supply point during maintenance of its district heating network, only on a smaller scale than now.
“With the changes made by Kotka Energy, the backup supply point in question is now also suitable for larger equipment, making it possible to deliver even more heat if necessary. Thanks to good communication, the entire delivery was carried out smoothly from start to finish,” says Jesse Paananen, Business Unit Manager at Höyrytys.
Network Manager Mika Kesälä acted as Kotka Energy’s contact person during the delivery of backup heat. Kesälä was satisfied with the service provided by Höyrytys.
“The equipment and service worked as they were supposed to, and the area was heated as planned,” says Kesälä.
Tero Glán, Network Engineer at Kotka Energy, is also satisfied with the delivery.
“The backup heat supply worked as planned, and the power was fed into the grid during the day at a power of 2-3 MW. The weather was also favourable, so the power was sufficient for the needs of one district. Slightly more than 400 users were in the affected area, including a health centre, three schools and a few service facilities. The entire process worked, from the offer to the order and report, as well as the backup heat delivery itself. Even the guidelines received in advance were clear,” praises Glán.
